Benagil Cave & Beach Days in the Algarves, Portugal

The southern coastline of Portugal is not be missed if you’re ever fortunate enough to go for a visit. In fact, spend as much time here as you possibly can! The laidback beach life with miles and miles and miles of ocean, cliffs, soft sandy beaches, and fresh seafood. Need I say more?

How to Get There

We picked up a rental car in Cascais (it was super affordable, like $11 CAD per day for an economy car), and drove to the southern coast and decided to stay in Albufeira. It was about a three-hour drive, and what a great way to see the country. We stopped over in Belem for a quick gander and pastel de nata lunch at the one and only Pastéis de Belém. I believe I ate at least three in a seating and ordered a box to go. I still dream of the delicious, warm, flaky, soft, melt-in-your-mouth buttery sweetness of the famous Portuguese delight. Sigh

Albufeira Marina

We went to the marina and purchased tickets for a boat tour with beach BBQ from one of the many vendors on the marina. They have ample departure times throughout the day. We did a morning cave tour on a catamaran, with a beach BBQ lunch. Lots of drinks and delicious grilled seafood, steaks, and burgers were had.
